BIS Great Cathedral Organ Series: Southwark Cathedral
BIS Great Cathedral Organ Series: Southwark Cathedral
This organ is surely one of the finest in London, and there is a lot of stiff competition about the place!
The organ of Southwark Cathedral is very under-recorded, largely because it is probably the nosiest cathedral in the country: right next to a busy train line and Borough Market right outside. This didn't stop BIS from recording this fabulous Lewis instrument, and there are only tiny moments when you can hear outside noises.
Just you wait until you hear tutti organ... it will blow your speakers!
- Louis Vierne - Toccata
- JS Bach - Trio Sonata No 6 in G BWV 530
- David Bednall - Fantasia on 'Thaxted'
- William Boyce - Symphony No 4 in F (arr. Arthur Hutchings)
- Louis Vierne - Clair de Lune
- Max Reger - Introduction and Passacaglia in F minor Op. 63
Whereas YouTube compresses the audio in all of its videos, the audio here is lossless and you'll hear the Cathedral Organ sounding absolutely incredible!
