BIS Great Cathedral Organ Series: Lincoln Cathedral
BIS Great Cathedral Organ Series: Lincoln Cathedral
This recording was a real treat for me. Lincoln Cathedral was one of the very first Cathedral Organs I ever played, and I simply cannot believe that all these years later I am recording this fabulous instrument. I felt like I had to give this recording everything I've got, so I present to you what I think is my proudest achievement to date!
Jeffrey Makinson gives us a programme of Organ Music appropriate for the season of Easter, chosen by Jeffrey and myself to best show off all the colours of this 'Father' Henry Willis organ and to give positive Easter vibes!
Colin Walsh has described this recording as "stunning", as has the owner of one of the most eminent record labels in the world of organ and choral music. What an honour :)
The following programme has been carefully chosen by Stephen, Aaron and me to best show off the organ and to include a balanced selection of music.
- Sir Edward Elgar - Allegro maestoso (Sonata in G)
- Johann Sebastian Bach - Piece d’Orgue BWV 572
- Herbert Howells - Master Tallis’s Testament
- Francis Jackson - Impromptu
- Pierre Cochereau - Berceuse à la mémoire de Louis Vierne
- Maurice Duruflé - Scherzo, Op 2
- Norman Cocker - Tuba tune
- Joseph Jongen - Choral
Whereas YouTube compresses the audio in all of its videos, the audio here is lossless and you'll hear the Cathedral Organ sounding absolutely incredible!
